Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. Was founded in the year 1926 as Shin-Etsu Nitrogen Fertilizer Co., Ltd. which manufactured chemical fertilizer and limestone nitrogen. The company derives its name from its place of origin, the Shin’etsu Region in Japan. Presently, the company is headquartered in Tokyo and has its manufacturing locations in 14 countries worldwide. Shin-Etsu has six business divisions, namely, silicones, PVC/chlor-alkali, semiconductor silicones, electronics and functional materials, processing, trading and specialized services, and Speciality chemicals. Pharmaceutical excipients form a part of speciality chemicals. Shin-Etsu Chemical began manufacturing of cellulose derivatives from 1962. The cellulose derivatives cater to industrial, food and pharmaceutical segments. Shin-Etsu has been confidently manufacturing high volumes of pharmaceutical excipients in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
